The Greenpower challenge was conceived to inspire young people into pursuing a career in engineering, showing students what a fascinating, relevant and dynamic career choice it can be.

The challenge aims to link education, industry and community through inspirational engineering projects, providing inspiration, motivation, passion, dedication and fun!

The Greenpower Philosophy

About the Championship

Each team is provided a standardised motor and batteries by Greenpower which cannot be modified, the race is therefore efficiency driven as every team is working with the same power. This puts the focus on aerodynamic drag, rolling resistance and power train efficiency.

The championship is split up into 10 races throughout the year. In order to complete the championship a team must race in at least 3 of these races including the national final at the end of the season. Awards will be presented on the finals day to teams with the highest collated points total from their top 3 races of the season.

Each race day consists of a 60min race in which multiple drivers can be used. In order to make it to the start line the car must pass in depth scrutineering. Green power have their own custom M.O.T which has to be passed in order to compete in the event.

If any part of the test is failed teams will be allowed a small amount of time to fix problems and re-test the car, unfortunately if the car fails the scrutineering and cannot be fixed at the track the team will not be able to compete.
